About the Gallery

The Leclerc Contemporary gallery was founded by antique and design professional Geoffrey Walsky.  Inspired by his great grandfather Julien Jacques Leclerc, artist in Paris France during the 1920s. Leclerc Contemporary was created to provide a venue for contempary artists to exhibit their work and express their message.

Located at the Fairfield Co. Antique and Design Center, The Gallery is conveniently located just 40 minutes from New York City in the heart of Fairfield County representing Connecticut, New Jersey and the Metropolitain New York area.

Mission

Leclerc Contemporary will be exhibiting both established and emerging contemporary visual arts professionals. The focus will be on work that challenges boundaries, both conceptually and materially. In upcoming exhibitions we will be exploring the fabric of Western culture along with the panacea of events, large and small, that have shaped and continue to shape our present and future. Plans for the exhibition schedule include presenting museum quality artwork, solo and group exhibitions.

Gallery Director and Curator

Robert Hubany

Leclerc Contemporary materialized through a impromptu meeting  between Geoffrey Walsky and Robert Hubany in the early stages of the raw space at 19 Willard road. During a tour of the building and peering into the gloom of the cavernous 2000 S.F. "storage space" Hubany posed the question, "How about a gallery?"  The idea made perfect sense to Walsky. After several brain storming sessions Robert Hubany agreed to design the specs for the lighting system, coordinate the installation and curate the inaugural exhibition-  Site(s) Unseen, Paintings by Amy C. Storey.

Hubany has advanced degrees in studio art from The Maryland Institute and Rutger's University where he studied with world class artists and cultural theorists. Early on in his art career he had significant success with public sculpture commissions as a mixed media artist. He has shown on a national level at prestigious museums like The Baltimore Museum of Art, Maine's Portland Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC to name a few.

For the last 25 years Hubany has been involved in every conceivable aspect of generating exhibitions and has worked with many of the leading artists, photographers and designers. He has coordinated, supervised and production managed the installation of well over 300 exhibitions, many of which have traveled globally. Robert Hubany has since signed on as Leclerc Contemporary Gallery Director to curate exhibitions. He will be guiding the direction of the exhibitions program, seeking out seasoned artists, younger talent and developing a following for what promises to be an exciting new venue of excellence in the visual arts.
